Who will you be important to?

By Holly

One more thought for today…

I was bathing my littles tonight (yes, another spelling lesson!) and to be honest with you, it has been a hard day!  Everyone has been out of sorts.  Their Daddy has been gone a lot, and those days are always long.

As I sat by the tub, the Lord put the thought in my mind “Holly, who do you think you will be important to in forty years?”

Them.  And the other children.  Maybe a few other people, but mostly them.  They will either help take care of me, or they will choose my care facility.  And once I am gone, they are the ones who will remember me.

It was a good, humbling reminder.  It makes the crabby days, the difficult days worth it all.  My relationship with them is worth every bit of the investment.

We have had a few of those days lately ourselves. Today I went to PBS kids, the girls wanted to paint Baby Bop and print some color sheets. I clicked on Mr. Rogers…I really loved that guy…and we listened to him sing “There are many ways to say I love you…” I think I’m going to start singing that song when I feel stressed, You know that man just *oozes* peace. (should I have used *exudes*? well, you know expresses thoroughly.)

Aw, Holly, you are so sweet. :) I’m sure your children will always remember you. Very good reminder, though. I know what those kind of days feel like. :)
