This is painful.
Really painful.
I’m cringing.
Can you feel it?
Wince.
I couldn’t stand the Hilary hair, so I went back and had it cut even shorter. And colored.
My 8 year old said, “Oh Mommy. You don’t look like an old granny any longer.”
(To myself..”WHAT? Is THAT what you really thought?)
I hugged her really tight…little stinker who speaks every word that enters her mind…(ahem)…I mean, “Beautiful, guileless child after my own heart!
I haven’t decided if this will last or not – but it certainly did take it down as short as possible – and got rid of the dead hair. I will say that it is extremely easy…always a bonus.

Happy now?

I think it is very attractive on you, Holly! No way you could ever look like an old granny!

Only a stunning woman can carry such a hairstyle.
And you do. With beauty and grace.

I LOVE it! I’ve always wanted a haircut like but I just don’t think my face shape could stand it. I think you’ll love the low maintenance. You look really great. Thanks for posting a pic

If I did something like that I’d look very butch. You manage to look like Audrey Hepburn. I’m not sure I can still speak to you.
February 3, 2007 at 9:33 am |
Love it! It shows off your face beautifully.
February 3, 2007 at 11:13 am |
So cute and soooooo different!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow!
February 3, 2007 at 11:21 am |
Okay, okay. You all are very funny. (Nice, too. But I’m still cringing!)
Renee – stop THAT. Comparing is BAD!!!
Ann – I wasn’t thinking stunning…I was kind of thinking it looked like my 2 year old son’s hair.
But thanks.
THANKS TO EVERYONE!

I think you looked lovely anyway but this new look suits you even better – funny how kids are so darn truthful huh?
February 3, 2007 at 1:11 pm |
Gorgeous. Very chic! :~)
February 3, 2007 at 3:02 pm |
OH, I love it!!!!
It looks very similar to Molly’s hair a few months ago (it’s growing fast).
It’s absolutely adorable on you. I speak the truth!!!
Love it!

Holly,
Really – it is a LOVELY frame to display a face so filled with love and grace (apparently a reflection of your heart!). I had my hair shorter forever, and my husband really loved it. Then I started hiding behind more hair….Every picture I see of you is just beautiful!

Holly, I think it looks so pretty on you. Honest. I wouldn’t lie to you. If I thought it looked bad, I just wouldn’t leave a comment.
lol It looks good!
February 3, 2007 at 10:44 pm |
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!! It looks sooooooo good on you!! I always wished I could carry off (hmmm…is that how you say it?? I’m having a brain freeze) short hair but I have a buffalo hump!! It’s true! You my dear look amazing, I really love it!!
February 4, 2007 at 3:04 am |
Isn’t it funny how kids notice their mom’s hair? When my son was about two, I went to the salon to get a perm so I could transition to long hair. I came home and my son burst into tears and said “I don’t want a mama with curly hair!” One of my favorite memories in my great hair adventures.
Your new style is becoming! Stop cringing!
February 4, 2007 at 3:24 am |
Oh my gosh, it is so cute! Your cheekbones look great! If that isn’t a really hip ‘do, than I don’t know what is! Now, my only complaint is that you didn’t show us the Hillary hair for comparison, you know before and after.
You look so beautiful!!!!!!
February 4, 2007 at 8:33 am |
BRAVO ! BRAVO ! I just love it. Thank you for coloring it, it is gorgeous! This pic and the one on your blog looks like two different people, only this one looks younger. Great job.
February 4, 2007 at 10:11 am |
It’s adorable and amazing! I’ve always been shocked at how much younger women look with short hair…you are brave to go that short, but honestly you pull it off well. I bet you’re going to love the ease of styling it…
I’m 31, and my hair is graying on the underneath…you can esp see it when I pull back the sides. But my hubby (strange man) says he loves long gray hair, so guess what? I’m already reconciling myself to look on the frumpy side eventually! Actually, since I’m going to go gray anyway, I hope I get one of those dark heads of gray hair…I can see the beauty…
It’s kind of sad though, that long hair plus gray hair equals:really looking old! Your short ‘do just lifts your face up and shows off your neck. Wow!
February 4, 2007 at 10:35 am |
I like it!
Shortest I ever had mine was 1.5 inches all around. I loved it! had it like that for years…even when my sister complained i had a “boy’s cut”. just loved it. WAY easier than what I have now.
February 4, 2007 at 11:07 am |
Hey – I don’t think grey is frumpy! It just hit sooner than I thought, heavier than I thought.
It’s my daughter who has issues with it….
I think…I like to rail and rant against aging, like to deny it and pretend it won’t happen to me – but the truth is – it is and it will! Now, I intend to make the MOST of every day, to wring every little bit of zest possible out of life…and yet…life moves along and we all get older. (Better than NOT getting older, eh?) So, on the one hand I need to accept it and deal with it – and on the other…I don’t want people to ask me if my baby is my grandson.
I hope to have more babies, too!
Mary, some of the prettiest women I know have grey hair. There’s this one, that works at our library…soft grey, long curls…really, really pretty. How AWESOME that your husband likes grey hair! I am reminded that in scripture grey hair is considered a good thing.
Sue, since you couldn’t come, I just had to go and have it done.
Thanks, sweetie.
Elissa – I DO have a picture of the Hilary hair…but wow. It was a lot of work! Too much blow drying, curling…so not me!
How are you feeling, btw? How’s the baby?
Donna, that is too cute. Does your son accept you now?
Annette – I can see you with short hair.
To the rest of you sweeties…and see, I know you’re all sweet…because the ones who hate the haircut are not commenting…
You are JUST TOO MUCH! I can’t take the kindness anymore…so I’ll head off now to post a new post.
(thanks, everyone.)
February 4, 2007 at 12:02 pm |
I. Love. It.
I know the commenting is supposed to be over, but thought you should still know. Cause my opinion matters so very much, she said cheekily.
February 5, 2007 at 8:38 am |
Oh My Goodness! You have the perfect super short hair face. You look like Julie Andrews in Sound of Music. And you look younger. Keep It!
February 5, 2007 at 10:30 am |
Well, I end up taking a semi-break from the Internet on weekends and missed this so I’m going to comment anyway. (impudent grin) This photo looks so different from you blog photo. I like both looks. Enjoy it as it grows back.
February 5, 2007 at 12:10 pm |
Very cute! I really think shorter hair on women who aren’t 20 anymore takes 5-10 years off.
At least, that’s my story, and I’m stickin’ with it.
February 6, 2007 at 5:22 am |
Oh my goodness Tinkerbelle!! You are ADORABLE!!!! I agree, like a pixie.
Seriously I really think you look younger. Very cute, and easy is such a bonus!
February 6, 2007 at 10:42 am |
OH HUSH! Good grief. You were whining???? Why I oughta….. ; )
It’s absolutely gamine.
February 6, 2007 at 10:50 am |
Oh, it’s so cute! I have the super-short cut too. The only drawback is the weird hair in the morning, but a quick rinse in the morning and it’s all ready again. It suits you.
February 6, 2007 at 10:54 am |
Someone probably already said this, but only a beautiful face like yours could pull off a short haircut–you look wonderful!!
February 6, 2007 at 10:55 am |

Andrea, I allow comments like yours TWICE! (Oh, Stop! Say it Again! Oh, Stop! Say it Again!
)
Yes, Gem…weird morning hair. But I always had weird morning hair.
Roberta…you are too kind to me. (Say it Again!)
Dawn, what does gamine mean? (Running off to read the dictionary.)
February 6, 2007 at 11:17 pm |
It looks so elegant, and really does show off your lovely face. I’m not much of a fan of short hair (on women) but you look fantastic and feminine.
February 7, 2007 at 4:55 am |
WOW! IT MAKES YOU look SOOSOOOSOOOSOOO YOUNG!
I can’t believe how GREAT you look! I’m totally jealous, because I hated my super short cut, but YOU…you pull it off with STYLE. How awesome!!!
